Weekly checks and A/B testing

Website Care, $30/month: hosting, HTTPS, backups, weekly performance checks, A/B testing and small edits.

Food truck owners work odd hours and change things constantly. A website that is hard to update is a website that goes stale. The questions below are about the part after launch, which is where most truck sites fall apart.

How will I update the schedule

This is the question that matters most. Ask exactly how you would change this week’s locations and how long it takes. If the answer is "email us and we will update it," ask how fast and whether it counts against a limit.

With us, small edits are included up to 30 minutes a month with Website Care at $30/month. For a weekly schedule, many owners prefer to keep the page simple and link to the social account they update daily.

Questions about the menu and ordering

  • ✓Will the menu be typed text — so it can be read on a small screen and updated
  • ✓How do I change prices — ask who does it and whether it costs extra
  • ✓How does ordering work — window, ahead of time or a tool you already use
  • ✓What is third-party — payment and ordering tools charge their own fees to you

Questions about catering and events

Ask whether the site can take catering requests with the details you need: date, headcount, location, kind of event and how they found you. Ask where those requests go. An inbox you check in the truck is better than a form that reaches an office you do not have.

Ask what is not promised. A tracker that moves with your truck is a different product, and we do not fake one. A schedule page and a link to your social account is the honest version.

Questions about ownership and cost

  • ✓Who owns the domain — it should be in your name or your business name
  • ✓What is the one-time price — Launch Website is $399 for up to 5 pages
  • ✓What is monthly — Website Care is $30/month and is optional
  • ✓What if I stop — you take the domain, and ask in writing about the written content

Ask them to walk through a hungry customer’s visit

Have the designer describe what happens when someone opens your site at 11:40 on a weekday, standing on a sidewalk. What is the first thing they see? Ideally it is where you are today or how to find out, followed by the menu. If the designer starts with an about story and a slideshow, they are designing for a desk, not for a lunch line.

Then ask about the evening visitor who is planning a party. That person needs the catering form, your travel area and how far ahead to book. A good answer shows both paths without making either person scroll through the other’s content.

Questions about events and permits pages

  • ✓Can I list markets and festivals — with dates, so organizers see where you have worked
  • ✓Can I post a sold-out note fast — ask how quickly a one-line banner can go up
  • ✓Will my commissary or permit details appear — only if you want them shown, in your words
  • ✓Can event organizers download a one-sheet — a simple PDF with menu and setup needs

Red flags in the answers

Walk away from a designer who wants the menu as a photo of your chalkboard, cannot tell you who will edit the schedule, or suggests an ordering system that requires you to switch away from the point-of-sale you already run in the window. Also be cautious with anyone promising festival bookings or a flood of catering jobs. A site makes it easy to find and hire you for the people already looking; the decision stays with the organizer.

What to expect, honestly

  • ✓We do not build a live truck tracker — schedule lists and links are honest
  • ✓We do not guarantee sales or search rankings — no designer controls them
  • ✓Ordering tool fees belong to the provider — ask them for the numbers

Frequently asked questions

Is five pages enough for a truck?

Usually. A home page, menu, schedule, catering and contact page cover most trucks. Business Plus is there if you add a page for each event type, a second truck or a brick-and-mortar kitchen later.

Can I use my social account on the site?

Yes. We can link your profile prominently near the top and tell visitors to check it for today’s location, so the account you already post to every morning keeps doing the daily work.

Do you write the menu descriptions?

We write short, appetizing descriptions from what you tell us, and you approve each item. Prices, allergen notes and ingredient details always come from you, because only you know what goes into the food.

What should I ask about catering deposits?

Ask whether the site can link to the tool you use to collect deposits, or whether you need help setting one up. We can help set up Square for deposits, and that provider’s fees are paid to them, not to us.

How fast can my website be live?

Launch can happen in as little as 48 hours for eligible projects. Larger sites take longer, and your timeline is agreed in the consultation.

What does Website Care include?

Website Care is $30/month: managed hosting, HTTPS, backups, uptime checks, weekly performance checks, A/B testing and up to 30 minutes of small edits each month.

Are SEO and Business Spotlight included in the website price?

No. They are optional add-ons that are billed separately each month. The website price covers the website; Website Care at $30/month keeps it hosted and maintained; Monthly SEO and Business Spotlight are separate products you can add if you want them.

Can you build it in Spanish?

Yes. Se habla español. We can build in English, Spanish or both.
