Agency buyers come in two kinds: the client who needs work done, and the other agency or freelancer who needs a reliable production partner. Many agency websites speak only to the first and in the same vocabulary as everyone else. The result is a site that no one remembers and no one can use to decide.

Mistake one: capabilities with no scope

"Strategy, branding, web, content, performance" is the same list on every agency page. Buyers cannot tell whether you build a five-page site or a commerce platform. State what a typical engagement looks like: sizes of project, what is included, what is not, and who it is for.

A clear "we are a fit when" and "we are not a fit when" section saves discovery calls and makes the right buyers feel seen.

What agency buyers look for

  • ✓Defined services — what you deliver, at what size and for which kinds of client
  • ✓A visible process — steps from brief to launch, with who does what
  • ✓Quality assurance — how work is checked before it reaches a client
  • ✓Turnaround ranges — honest ranges tied to scope, not a blanket promise
  • ✓Ownership and confidentiality — who owns the work and how client details are handled

Mistake two: no page for the partner buyer

If other agencies could subcontract production to you, say so on a page built for them. Explain how the working relationship runs, what you take on, how revisions and QA work and how confidentiality is handled. Keep pricing off public pages and route those buyers through a short inquiry form, so each conversation starts with their specifics.

The partner buyer is evaluating risk. They need to know you will not contact their client, that work ships under their name and that your delivery is predictable.

Mistake three: slow or unclear inquiry handling

A form that says "we will be in touch" with no timeframe invites a competitor. Say what happens next, who replies and roughly when. Ask two or three qualifying questions on the form: project type, timeline and who the buyer is, so the first reply is useful. Keep the form short; a long one scares off busy people.

Mistake four: a portfolio that only shows pretty screens

A grid of full-page screenshots tells a buyer you can make things look nice, which every competitor also claims. What they cannot see is the problem each project solved. Under each piece, add three short lines: what the client needed, what you changed, and what you handed over at the end. "A five-location clinic needed one booking path instead of five; we rebuilt the service pages and connected their existing scheduler" is far more useful than a project title.

If a piece is under confidentiality, describe it by type and blur identifying details, or leave it out. A smaller portfolio with real context beats a large one that raises questions.

Mistake five: a team page that no longer matches reality

Agencies grow and shrink with their contracts, and the team page is usually the last thing updated. A buyer who meets someone on a call who is not on the site, or sees a designer listed who left a year ago, starts wondering what else is out of date. Either keep the page current or describe roles instead of individuals: who leads strategy, who builds, who reviews before launch.

Five-minute self-check

  • ✓Open your services page — could a stranger say what size of project you take
  • ✓Submit your own inquiry form — note how long the reply takes and what it says
  • ✓Read your homepage headline aloud — would it fit any other agency in your city
  • ✓Count your calls to action — one clear next step beats four competing ones
  • ✓Check your footer — year, team links and social profiles should all still be current

What to expect, honestly

  • ✓We do not publish prices for partner work
  • ✓We name no clients — confidentiality comes first
  • ✓We cannot promise turnaround for every project — it depends on scope

Frequently asked questions

Should an agency publish its pricing?

For direct client work it can help to show starting points. For partner or subcontract work, inquiry-only keeps conversations specific and avoids mismatched expectations about volume, scope and how revisions are handled.

How do I show quality without naming clients?

Describe your QA steps, show a process outline and share sanitized examples you have permission to display, with names, logos and any identifying details removed before anything goes on the page.

Is a partner page worth building?

If you want production partners or subcontract relationships, yes. It lets that buyer self-qualify, see how handoffs and confidentiality work, and reach you directly without wading through client-facing pages.

How fast can my website be live?

Launch can happen in as little as 48 hours for eligible projects. Larger sites take longer, and your timeline is agreed in the consultation.

What does Website Care include?

Website Care is $30/month: managed hosting, HTTPS, backups, uptime checks, weekly performance checks, A/B testing and up to 30 minutes of small edits each month.

Are SEO and Business Spotlight included in the website price?

No. They are optional add-ons that are billed separately each month. The website price covers the website; Website Care at $30/month keeps it hosted and maintained; Monthly SEO and Business Spotlight are separate products you can add if you want them.

Can you build it in Spanish?

Yes. Se habla español. We can build in English, Spanish or both.
