A single wedding film can mean a full day of shooting and weeks of editing. The date you hold on the calendar is only the first half of the commitment. A deposit makes both halves real, and tells the client plainly that your editing queue is saving a place for their project as well.
Say what the deposit covers
Clients often assume a deposit pays for the day itself. For a videographer it also covers pre-production, second shooters, gear planning and a place in the edit queue. It helps to say so in a single sentence beside the pay button, because it explains why the amount is not trivial.
We also suggest a simple project summary after payment: the date, the package, the deliverables and a rough delivery window. Clients refer back to it, and it reduces back-and-forth about what was promised.
What a project request should collect
- ✓Type of project — wedding, corporate, real estate, music or event
- ✓Date and hours of coverage — with a note for multiple locations
- ✓Deliverables — highlight film, full edit, raw footage, social clips
- ✓Where the footage will be used — web, broadcast, or private viewing
Delivery times, revisions and music
Turnaround is one of the first things clients ask about and one of the first things they forget. Put your usual delivery window on the page, and say how many rounds of revision are included. Your numbers are yours, and we do not make claims on your behalf.
The deposit goes through the tool you use or Square, and the provider sets its own fees. Anything about music rights or releases is outside our scope, so those notes are in your own wording.
What to have ready
- ✓Your package list — coverage hours, crew size, deliverables
- ✓Your deposit rule — flat or a share, plus when the balance is due
- ✓Typical delivery window — in weeks, not a promise
- ✓A reel with a few different project types — so clients see your range
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not host large raw files — delivery uses the tool you already use
- ✓We do not set your delivery promises — you choose and state them
- ✓We do not advise on rights or releases — those documents are yours
