Someone reads about your mission and decides to give. In the next two minutes you either make it simple or lose them. Knowing what each step involves helps you plan a donation page that works, even if you never touch the payment side yourself.
Step by step
A visitor lands on your page and sees a clear request: what the gift supports and a button to give. They pick an amount or enter one. They are taken to a form, hosted by your donation platform, where they enter payment details.
After payment, they see a confirmation and usually receive an emailed receipt from the platform. Your website then has a thank-you page, and you follow up with your own message.
What your website handles
- ✓The explanation — why giving matters and where gifts go
- ✓The button or link — a clear way to start giving
- ✓The thank-you page — wording after the gift
- ✓Trust details — who you are and how to reach you
What the payment processor handles
Card details, receipts and the movement of money are handled by the donation platform you choose. Their fees belong to them, and donor data lives with them under their terms. We do not store payment information on your site.
We connect the tool you already use, or help you set one up. If you want recurring gifts, the platform needs to support them, and we link to that option.
Choices to make before building
- ✓Suggested amounts — a few clear options
- ✓One-time or monthly
- ✓Where gifts go — general fund or a named program
- ✓Receipt wording — set in the platform
What to do next
Write one paragraph about what a gift does, and gather your platform’s donation link. That is enough to start. We build the page, write the copy with you and connect the button, then you approve it.
What to expect, honestly
- ✓We do not process payments — your donation platform does
- ✓Platform and card fees belong to the provider — not to us
- ✓Tax receipts follow your organization’s rules — ask your advisor
