A chamber site launches once the member list is clean enough to become a directory and the next few months of events are confirmed. Business owners visit to register for a mixer, look up a local plumber or decide whether membership is worth the dues. Prepare those three paths and the rest of the build moves quickly.
How the launch unfolds
Day 1-2: You send the member list, events and benefits, and we propose directory categories that match how residents search for local businesses.
Week 1: We draft the home, events and join pages, and you confirm dates, dues wording and benefit details.
Week 2: We build the directory and sponsor page, then test every registration link and the join form on a phone.
Launch: We publish once your staff approves; a 48-hour launch is possible for eligible projects with content ready.
What to gather before you start
- ✓Member list by category — business names, categories and a website link for each member, cleaned of duplicates and closed businesses
- ✓Event calendar — ribbon cuttings, luncheons, mixers, the annual meeting and holiday events, with registration links
- ✓Membership benefits — what dues include, who each level suits and how to apply, written for a busy owner
- ✓Sponsor opportunities — event and annual sponsorship levels and what each sponsor receives, in your own wording
- ✓Staff contacts — who should receive membership, event and directory questions
The first month after launch
Each week of the first month, remove past events and add new ones as they are confirmed. Post photos from ribbon cuttings and mixers with permission, and add new members to the directory as they join. Before your annual meeting and holiday events, feature them on the home page, and ask new members how they found you. When dues or membership levels change for the new year, update the join page before renewal notices go out, and keep sponsor logos current as agreements begin and end. A quick monthly scan of the directory for closed or renamed businesses keeps it trustworthy for residents who use it.
Mistakes to avoid at launch
- ✓Placing the directory three clicks deep — members cannot find their own listing and question what their dues buy
- ✓Listing benefits in general terms — prospective members cannot see why joining is worth it
- ✓Leaving last quarter’s events up — the chamber looks inactive and registrations dip
