A business law firm’s site launches smoothly once the partners agree on three focus areas and the owner situations behind them, such as forming a company, negotiating a contract or selling a business. Owners search for what is happening to them, not for a practice area title. Approved bios and a short consultation form complete the preparation.
How the launch unfolds
Day 1-2: You send focus situations, jurisdictions and bios, and we outline a home page plus three service pages that each open with a recognizable owner scenario.
Week 1: We draft the service pages in plain language, explaining terms such as operating agreement or asset purchase in a sentence, and your attorneys review the wording.
Week 2: We build the attorneys page and a consultation form that asks for a name, company name, contact details and a one-line topic, then test it on a phone.
Launch: We publish after final approval; a 48-hour launch is possible for eligible projects with content ready.
What to gather before you start
- ✓Three focus situations — entity formation, contract review, partner disputes or business sales, each described from the owner’s side of the desk
- ✓Jurisdictions — the states where your attorneys are admitted and serve business clients
- ✓Attorney bios and photos — background, focus and admissions for each lawyer, approved by that lawyer
- ✓Consultation route — what a first meeting covers, how it is scheduled and how you prefer first contact to arrive
- ✓Services you refer out — litigation, tax or employment matters you do not handle, so the site does not invite mismatched requests
The first month after launch
In the first month, read the first inquiries and adjust wording if requests miss your focus areas. Early in the year, and when owners plan sales or partnerships, a short informational note about planning ahead can go on the home page in wording your attorneys approve. Keep attorney details current and review pages against any rules your jurisdiction sets for describing legal services. Do not invite confidential details through any form.
Mistakes to avoid at launch
- ✓Listing every practice area with equal weight — nobody can tell what the firm is best at
- ✓Writing in statute numbers and Latin — owners searching in plain words never land on the page
- ✓Asking for deal details in the form — confidential information travels by email before any engagement exists
