What Shopify Capital actually is
Shopify Capital is funding built into the Shopify platform. It's a real, legitimate product, and for a lot of merchants it's a genuinely good deal, so we're not going to pretend otherwise. Here's how it works: Shopify looks at your store's sales history, traffic, chargebacks, and growth, and if you qualify, it offers you funding inside your admin. You don't apply. There's no way to request a review or push it along. If the offer isn't there, you wait.
The funding itself is usually a merchant cash advance or a fixed-fee/monthly-fee loan, up to about $2M depending on your store. You get a lump sum, and repayment is a fixed percentage of your daily sales (roughly 8-17%) until a set total is paid back. A typical example: a $10,000 advance at a 1.15 factor rate means you repay about $11,500. On zero-sales days, nothing is deducted, which is a nice feature. It's available in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.
Where Shopify Capital gets tight
The strengths of Shopify Capital are also its limits. It's tied to one platform and, in most cases, to Shopify Payments and your store's revenue. That creates a few real gaps:
- You can't apply. It's invitation-only. If Shopify hasn't offered it, there's no button to press and no case to plead.
- It's tied to one sales channel. Repayment comes out of your Shopify sales. If a big chunk of your revenue runs through wholesale, Amazon, a physical location, or invoicing, Shopify Capital doesn't see it or use it.
- The offer is capped by your store. If you need more than Shopify puts in front of you, that's the ceiling. There's no negotiating up.
- It's ecommerce-only. Contractors, restaurants, clinics, trucking, service businesses, and anyone not selling on Shopify are simply out of scope.
How Quick Biz Capital is different
Quick Biz Capital isn't a platform feature. It's working capital for any small business, in any industry, approved on your bank deposits instead of your Shopify sales or your credit score. We look at how your business actually moves money across every channel, not just one store.
You apply when you want to
No waiting for an offer to appear. A short application and a soft credit pull (which doesn't hurt your score) tells us where you stand.
Judged on deposits, not one channel
We underwrite on total bank deposits, so wholesale, Amazon, in-store, and invoiced revenue all count, not just Shopify checkout.
$10K to $5M
Funding starts at a $10,000 minimum and goes up to $5M, so it can go well past a platform-capped offer.
Fast, when it makes sense
Funded in as little as 24 hours once you're approved and documents are signed.
FICO 500+ is fine
Strong deposits matter more than a perfect score. A 500+ FICO doesn't rule you out.
Any industry
Ecommerce, service, retail, trades, medical, transportation. If the business is real and the deposits are there, we can look.
Honest side-by-side
- Who can get it: Shopify Capital, invitation-only Shopify merchants (US/UK/CA/AU). Quick Biz Capital, any US small business that applies.
- Basis of approval: Shopify, your store's sales data and history. QBC, your bank deposits (soft pull, FICO 500+ OK).
- Revenue it counts: Shopify, mainly your Shopify sales. QBC, deposits across every channel.
- Amount: Shopify, up to ~$2M, capped by your store. QBC, $10K-$5M.
- Speed: Shopify, fast once offered, but you have to be offered. QBC, as little as 24 hours after signing.
- Repayment: Shopify, % of daily Shopify sales. QBC, structured to your cash flow.
When Shopify Capital is the better call
We'd rather you pick the right tool. If Shopify has already offered you funding, the amount covers what you need, and nearly all your revenue runs through your Shopify store, that built-in offer is often hard to beat. Take it. Come to us when the offer isn't there, isn't big enough, or doesn't reflect the money you make outside Shopify.
When Quick Biz Capital fits better
- Shopify hasn't offered you Capital, or the offer is too small.
- A meaningful part of your revenue is off-Shopify (wholesale, marketplaces, in-store, invoices).
- You want funding that isn't tied to one sales channel or platform.
- You need it larger or faster than a platform offer, up to $5M in as little as 24 hours.
- Your credit is rebuilding, but your deposits are strong.
- You're not on Shopify at all.
A straight example
Say you run a business doing steady bank deposits and you need $50,000 for inventory before a busy stretch. You send us three months of bank statements, we review your deposits with a soft pull, and put an offer in front of you. If you accept and sign before early afternoon Eastern on a weekday, funding can hit the same day. Sign on a Friday and it typically lands Monday. No claim of instant magic, just a clear, honest rule.
Straight answers
Can Quick Biz Capital pay off my Shopify Capital advance?
No. We don't pay off or refinance an existing advance. We provide new working capital based on your deposits. If you have current obligations, tell us up front so we structure something that actually fits.
Do I need to be on Shopify to qualify?
No. We fund businesses in every industry, on or off Shopify. Approval is based on your bank deposits, not your store.
Will checking hurt my credit?
No. We start with a soft pull to see where you stand, which doesn't affect your score.
How much can I get?
Anywhere from a $10,000 minimum up to $5M, depending on your deposits and business. That can go well beyond a platform-capped offer.
How fast is funding?
As little as 24 hours. If you're approved and send statements plus signed documents before early afternoon Eastern on a weekday, same-day funding is possible. Friday signings generally fund Monday.
What credit score do I need?
FICO 500+ is fine. We approve on deposits, not on your score, so strong, consistent revenue carries the most weight.
