L'histoire
“We named it for the door. One-one-four, painted in gold on the glass, so nobody ever has to ask where dinner is.”
Harbor Street Bistro is the kind of room you walk past for years before you finally go in, and then you never stop going. Fourteen tables, a zinc bar worn soft at the elbows, bentwood chairs and a long mirror where the specials are written in white grease pencil at noon.
The cooking is classic and unfussy. Stocks simmer all morning, sauces are finished with butter, and bread comes from the bakery two doors down while it is still warm. The menu changes when the market does, which is to say a little every day and completely every season.

La salle

La table longue
Behind the bar is a room with one long oak table. Book it for birthdays, rehearsal dinners, retirements or a Sunday lunch that runs into evening. We'll cook a set menu of three or four courses with wine chosen to match, and the room is yours for the night.
Réserver
Lunch Tuesday to Saturday, dinner every night but Monday. The bar is held for walk-ins, so there is nearly always somewhere to sit.

Questions
Always at the bar, and at tables when we have them. Early evenings are the easiest time to walk in.
None at all. Come as you are, whether that's straight from work or straight from the beach.
Tell us when you book and again when you sit down. Most dishes can be adjusted, and the kitchen will say so honestly when one can't.
Yes, for celebrations. We'll plate it for you, or we can make a tarte tatin with a candle in it.
